Health (Medical equipment)
Strong and established healthcare network
With the increased concern and focus on the health sector after the COVID-19 pandemic, there has been an increase in internal incentives and investments and a growing search to reduce dependence on health equipment from abroad (expectation that 70% of Brazil's apparent consumption will be manufactured domestically by 2030). Therefore, states such as Rio Grande do Sul, which already have a well-established health care network and industrial park, have the opportunity to become focal points for the production of this equipment and absorb this demand for internalization.
High concentration of workforce in the health sector
Rio Grande do Sul is the fifth state in number of doctors per thousand inhabitants (3.04 against 2.56 national average) and has four of the 20 undergraduate courses in Biomedical Engineering authorized by the Ministry of Education.
Culture of innovation
The state has stood out in the area of technological innovation, with companies and startups developing advanced solutions for the industry, which can be seen as a competitive advantage, as it is necessary to develop technologies to produce products that are currently not available on a national or state scale. Radiation equipment is an example.
