Rio Grande do Sul is the 4th largest producer of solar energy in Brazil and the 5th largest producer of wind energy. - In addition to onshore solar and wind potential, Rio Grande do Sul also has significant offshore potential. - It has an energy matrix made up of 82% clean energy (in line with Brazil and more than 50 percentage points above the world average), with room for expansion of its renewable capacities. The estimated wind potential is ~103 GW onshore and ~114GW offshore. The Brazilian wind farm currently has 25.6 GW of installed energy. Its photovoltaic potential is ~1700TWh/year, equivalent to ~2.5x Brazil's electricity production in 2022.

It has the lowest levels of inequality compared to other states (6th on the Gini index) and labor market indicators that are consistently better than the national average.
NATURAL RESOURCES
- It has the third largest planted area in Brazil. - Features high water availability. - Holds the largest mineral coal reserves in Brazil. Mineral coal is the main mineral product in Rio Grande do Sul, with reserves of 28.5 billion tons, which correspond to 89% of the country's coal resources. - Rio Grande do Sul is also a producer and exporter of precious stones (especially amethyst and agate) and ornamental rocks (granite and marble).
