Within the planned internationalization strategy to increase the volume of business from other countries with Rio Grande do Sul, Invest RS participated, this Tuesday (10/12), in agendas with representatives from Japan and Canada, organized by the Secretariat of Economic Development (Sedec).

The meeting with Canada was attended by the consul general of Canada, Caroline Charette, and the trade commissioner, representative of the consulate in Southern Region 51, Paulo Barnewitz Orlandi. In addition to the president of Invest RS, Rafael Prikladnicki, the secretary of Economic Development, Ernani Polo, and the director of the Department of Commercial Promotion and International Affairs (DPCI) at Sedec, Evaldo da Silva Junior, participated in the conversation.

On the second consular agenda, the group received the Japanese consul in Porto Alegre, Shimizu Kazuyoshi. On the agenda of the meeting, the commercial partnership between Japan and RS and the recent mission of the Rio Grande do Sul government to Asia, when there were meetings with Japanese investors, businesspeople and government representatives. RS’s partnership with its sister province Shiga was also discussed, whose relationship will be 45 years old in 2025. A local delegation is expected in the State to take care of the commemoration events.

According to the president of Invest RS, international presence is one of the focuses of the agency’s operations. “We have a guiding principle, which is the Economic, Inclusive and Sustainable Development Plan, and a commitment to increase the volume of international business. Therefore, we will look for opportunities where they are”, stated Prikladnicki.

Secretary Ernani Polo highlighted the work being done to reinforce Rio Grande do Sul’s reputation as an attractive place for investors, of which the creation of Invest RS is an example. “We constantly work to promote Gaucho products, which are gaining international market share. Foreign players recognize this and want to maintain relations with our State”, he said.
