Acordo prevê atuação para fábrica de encapsulamento e testes

During its tour of Malaysia, Invest RS signed, on Tuesday (25/2), a term of engagement with Tellescom Semicondutores through which the investment agency from Rio Grande do Sul will support the project to install a semiconductor factory in Rio Grande do Sul. The company is also fulfilling an agenda in the Asian country for negotiations related to the project.

The term of engagement is the document signed between the agency and the company interested in investing in the state. The agreement establishes the terms of the technical and specialized support that Invest RS will provide to the company so that it can complete the deal. The signing took place at the headquarters of the Penang Skills Development Center (PSDC), where Invest Penang, an institution similar to Invest RS in the Malaysian province, is also headquartered.

According to the president of Invest RS, Rafael Prikladnicki, the term of engagement is a strategic stage in the development of the project, as it formalizes the negotiations for the investment. “Invest RS is making a strategic commitment, not only by assisting the company in its investment project for Rio Grande do Sul, but also by driving innovation and aiming to position the state as a new hub for the semiconductor industry,” explains Prikladnicki.

Tellescom is a Brazilian group that produces electronic equipment, among other activities. The project planned for Rio Grande do Sul involves the development of a semiconductor encapsulation and testing plant, which will be used in the automotive industry, the Internet of Things, and wireless communications.

Ronaldo Aloise Júnior, CEO of Tellescom Semicondutores, believes that the project reinforces Rio Grande do Sul’s vocation for investments in microelectronics. “Rio Grande do Sul has always had this vocation. It is the best place both in terms of government maturity and in terms of concentration of knowledge,” says Aloise.

In addition to Invest RS supporting the investment, the businessman also highlights as an example of Rio Grande do Sul’s maturity to receive the project the existence of the Semicondutores RS program, designed and coordinated by the Secretariat of Innovation, Science and Technology (SICT), which aims to strengthen the semiconductor chain in the state by fostering digital entrepreneurship, training talent and excellent research, among other actions.

The signing of the agreement with Tellescom is connected to the agenda that Rio Grande do Sul is fulfilling in Malaysia, with visits to the semiconductor ecosystems in Penang and Kuala Lumpur. The itinerary is being developed in partnership with the Secretariat of Innovation, Science and Technology (SICT).
