The first agendas of the mission to India pointed out promising paths for products from Rio Grande do Sul. Led by the Secretariat for Economic Development (Sedec) and with the participation of Invest RS, the group of businesspeople and representatives of the State government maintained contacts with businesspeople at the Brazilian embassy in New Delhi and participated in agendas at Indusfood, one of the main food fairs. food and drink from Asia, which runs until January 10 in New Delhi.
Rio Grande do Sul is participating in the event for the first time and is the only state in South America with a stand there. The director of Investment Attraction and Commercial Promotion, Fabricio Forest, is participating in the agendas, within the agency’s international operating strategy. “We are following our wine, sparkling wine, juice and apple producers. We have great expectations of opening markets and doing business here. We want to increasingly strengthen ties with this country”, he states.
The program began on Tuesday (7/1), with a meeting with the Brazilian ambassador to India, Kenneth da Nóbrega, and with the embassy’s agricultural attaché, Angelo de Queiroz Maurício. During the meeting, held in New Delhi, potential collaborations between the Asian country and Rio Grande do Sul and the presentation of Rio Grande do Sul products for the Indian market were discussed.
On the occasion, the presence of Indian delegations was lined up at Expodireto, which takes place between the 10th and 14th of March, in Não-Me-Toque, and at Wine South America, a wine fair that takes place from the 6th to the 8th of May, in Bento Gonçalves . Organized by Sedec, a tasting of grape juice, sparkling wine and wine was held for representatives of the Indian press and local businesspeople. The strategy was to bring together the target audience with the potential to publicize and, above all, import the products of the companies accompanying the Rio Grande do Sul delegation.
On the second day of the tour through the Asian country, Invest RS maintained contact with businesspeople and interested parties at the Rio Grande do Sul stand at the fair. The Indusfood 2025 numbers are relevant, giving the dimension of the Asian market: there are more than 1,800 exhibitors and 5,000 international buyers, from more than 100 countries. “The opportunities are gigantic, and Invest RS’s role will be to support the insertion of our entrepreneurs in this market”, comments the agency’s president, Rafael Prikladnicki.
The opportunity to negotiate with exhibitors and participate in Indusfood arose during the State’s official mission to India, in November last year, coordinated by deputy governor Gabriel Souza. “The participation of Invest RS reinforces the continuity of the mission led by the deputy governor in November 2024 for the same country”, explains Prikladnicki.
In addition to Sedec and Invest RS, the group includes the departments of Tourism, which will promote Gaucho wine tourism, and Agriculture, Livestock, Sustainable Production and Irrigation, which will present olive oil and yerba mate produced in the State. Representatives from the companies Suvalan, Aurora, Tecnovin, Casa Valduga, as well as the Brazilian Winemaking Union (Uvibra), the Brazilian Association of Apple Producers (ABPM) and the Gaúcha De Vinicultores Association (Agavi), are attending the event.
