Forestry, paper and cellulose

Market already established with expansion of manufacturing units

Rio Grande do Sul already has established pulp mills and forestry cultivation areas, currently with projects to expand their operating capacity. Together, the units operating in the state are responsible for a production of paper and pulp capable of adding R$3 billion to the national GDP.

High productivity of eucalyptus

The climate and soil conditions of Rio Grande do Sul, combined with flat terrain and technological availability, are favorable to eucalyptus cultivation, resulting in high productivity per hectare. They also allow for a shorter production cycle than the world average (6 years versus 15 years in Europe, for example).

Production with ESG advantages compared to other production hubs in the country

The fact that Rio Grande do Sul products are not linked to illegal logging and the felling of native forests represents a significant competitive advantage in terms of the acceptance of exported products. FSC certifications reinforce the reliability of the sustainable origin of wood and pulp produced in Rio Grande do Sul.

Availability of areas for expansion of cultivation

Forest cultivation has the potential to expand into degraded areas, especially when incorporated into cultivation techniques integrated with crops or livestock, as an economic and ecosystem recovery instrument.
