Agricultural chain

Prominent position on the national scene and chain already established in the State

The state is consolidated as one of the largest agricultural producers and exporters in the country, with an important participation in the cultivation of wheat, corn, rice and soybeans. Furthermore, it is one of the 3 main exporters of pork and chicken, as well as a relevant livestock producer on the national scene, with a long tradition in beef production, managing to produce competitively.

Product processing as a lever for multisectoral development

The processing and processing of grains produced in the state moves other economic sectors with high potential for generating employment and complexifying the economy (such as the chemical, food, biofuels, pharmaceutical industries, among others).

High and growing global and domestic demand for products

The global demand for processed products (such as oils and flour) is growing, especially in countries such as China, the USA and India. Furthermore, despite being a large producer of wheat, the inferior quality of locally grown grain increases the state's dependence on imports of wheat for food purposes and already processed flour (in 2021, the state imported 31 million tons of wheat flour). Furthermore, Rio Grande do Sul is the fourth state in per capita consumption of beef (27.1 kg/year, compared to the national average of 24.2 kg/year). Furthermore, Brazil is the 5th country with the highest meat consumption in the world, with 78kg/inhabitant/year (including beef, pork, chicken and goat).

High quality meat and good productive positioning, aligned with ESG trends

Rio Grande do Sul is the main producer of some specific breeds, such as Hereford and Angus, which are known for producing high quality meat, with good marbling and characteristic flavor. Furthermore, tracking the production chain is growing as a requirement of external and internal markets for meat consumption, favoring producing regions such as RS, with a smaller-scale production model not linked to deforestation.
